Poor Fishies

I got up super early today for the airport just to end up being delayed a good amount of time... most of it was spent sitting inside the airplane at the gate. Fun times. I guess in the end we were only an hour and a half delayed, so I can't complain too much.

From the airport, my parents took me to Chinatown in Philadelphia where we went to Sang Kee for their famous roasted duck wonton noodle soup. Mmmmmm... delicious.

After lunch we went out in search for some pressed duck. My parents kept trying to order a pressed peking duck from this take out place, but there were too many communication barriers. One of the cooks kept pointing at my dad and asking my mom, "Chinese?" That part was amusing. They must have been really confused as to why these two very Chinese looking folks could only speak English.

Then we ended up at this Chinese market where my mom picked out tons of veggies and my dad picked out conch. I felt really bad for the fish. Some tanks were totally overcrowded and the trout were super packed in, with no room to swim. They all had their faces pressed up to the glass, moving their little fish lips and staring out into the store. Normally I don't feel bad for the animals I eat, but in this case, it really felt kind of cruel. Animals should at least live comfortably before we make a meal out of them.

Ride the Shortbus

I had a busy weekend and I'm still not fully recovered from my late night on Saturday. We were up pretty late at SC's boss's holiday party. I seriously need like nine hours of sleep or else I'm a pretty unhappy camper.

Yesterday we went to the Coolidge and saw Shortbus. It was fun. We got to watch it in the screening room, which makes you feel like you are getting your own private viewing. It was a really good movie, quite humorous at times. I certainly do not recommend going to see it with your parents as it is quite sexually graphic :)

Verna Turbulence

I work for the best company ever. It is official.

This past Tuesday, we had our holiday party. It was at the super hip 28 Degrees in the South End. We had unlimited drinks and yummy hors'doeurves that included tuna tartare, shrimp tacos, mini burgers, mac and cheese. Plus, there was entertainment... cabaret dancers AND a drag queen named Verna Turbulence!

How awesome is that?!

It's Not a Tow Zone, Jerks

I can't think of anything more enjoyable than having to retrieve your car from a tow lot in Charlestown because some wiseguy had it towed because they wanted to do a little road maintenance. Thanks for the warning a$$holes. Plus, they towed my car while I was on a business trip. How wrong is that?

Anyways, $165 (and let's not forget the $25 ticket) later I have my car back.

You know, I do my part by taking public transportation to work and as a result, I get my car towed just for not driving my car every single day. That just figures, doesn't it?
