Acela is my Friend

I returned a few hours ago from NYC. I must say, the Acela Express, first-class, is totally the way to go when traveling from Boston to NYC. It is just so much more relaxing than flying. You can sit in these nice big chairs, get served complimentary meals and drinks, and plug in your laptop the whole way... all for the same price of a last minute plane ticket. Plus you can bring more than 3 oz of liquids with you. Wooo!

I actually had a lot of fun this past business trip to NY. On Tuesday we had a team dinner at this great Korean BBQ place. Then afterwards we did karaoke at a place a few doors down. We had a private room and everything. Good times!

Then Wednesday night I went out for sushi with CC and RC. Delicious.

I heart the Ritz-Carlton

SC and I just returned from a lovely and relaxing trip to Amelia Island, Florida. [View photos from our trip to Amelia Island.] SC was attending a financial aid conference at the Ritz-Carlton and I just happened to tag along. I must say that I totally love the Ritz. It is my new all time favorite place to stay. The service was impeccible and I really liked how the restaurant staff gave me to-go cups for my beverages when I was finished dining.

On Friday, SC and I took the little jitney service into downtown Fernandina Beach and checked out the cute shops and restaurants around the historical district. SC bought a pirate themed FB t-shirt. I purchased a handmade Slavic glass University of Michigan Christmas ornament which I plan to decorate my cubicle at work with. We enjoyed a Belgian Heffeweizen at a bar on the marina, ate delicious sushi at a restaurant called Benito, and then enjoyed some more beer at an Irish pub before heading back to the hotel.

On Saturday, I spent 5 hours at the "sports bar" at the Ritz. Actually, it was more like an upscale sports lounge. Regardless, I watched the Michigan-OSU game surrounded by OSU fans. When Michigan did something good, the whole bar was silent with the exception of me clapping and cheering by myself. When OSU did something good, the whole bar when wild.

Why was I the only Michigan fan??? Anyhow, I am sad that Michigan lost but hopefully we will have a rematch with OSU for the national championship.

Mojito-licious

This past weekend was busy but fun. Friday night, I went straight from the airport to home to Zuzu! for dinner and mojitos with LE and her new lady friend and lots of other fun people. We topped the night off with more drinks at Cuchi Cuchi.

Saturday morning SC and I were so lazy. We slept in until 11 AM which is super late for us. We ended up just lounging around until it was time to go to SC's grandma's birthday dinner at the Old Mill. I do not recommend the lobster ravioli. In fact, I recommend eating beforehand.

On Sunday we were much more productive. We went out for breakfast at our favorite place, Metropolis. Then we headed to West Elm to purchase some bathroom furniture. It took us 2 1/2 hours to assemble our fine piece of furniture. SC and I make a good furniture assembly team. We probably would have kicked ass at the IKEA road block in Amazing Race.

In the afternoon, LE and her lady friend came over for some karaoke time. I think the magic mic enjoyed coming out for a bit to play. I wish that LE and her new friend would come move to Boston. There is so much more fun to be had.
