Dead Goldilocks

Ann Arbor was fun this weekend, despite the crappy weather on Saturday during the football game. MM and I were totally drenched, cold and windblown and ended up leaving after half time even though we had awesome seats in the 12th row of the end zone. I had never been that close to the field at a Michigan game.

We did, however, get some shopping in. A trip to Ann Arbor is never complete without a stop to Steve and Barry's for some Michigan paraphanelia. MM bought some dry Michigan socks and warm-up pants to change into. I bought some pants and a beer glass for my coworker for when she is no longer preggers.

We also had an early dinner at Pizza House with EC. I ordered my chicken nachos that we always used to order in college at 2:30 in the morning. Sigh. The good old days.

Later that evening we went out with SW and AC. They showed us the best lesbian nightlife that D-town has to offer. There was a Halloween costume contest and that was entertaining. The winning costume (which was my personal favorite) was Dead Goldilocks.

Our flight home was a bit rocky. It was pretty much the equivalent of the crazy Labor Day weekend ferry ride, but in the air. Okay, so it wasn't as bad, but it was quite turbulent. MM got sick, but luckily she was able to hold the puking off until we got off the plane.

I can't wait to get back on a plane this Thursday!!!

Wet Cement

On my way home for work today I stepped in some wet cement. It was quite an unfortunate inicident. It was dark out and I didn't see the newly paved sidewalk. You would think they would rope it off and what not.

On another note, I beat Bully the other day. It is kinda sad that it only took me a week to beat, but at least now I get to wander around and do whatever I like.

Red Wine + New Shirt = Bad

I bought the most amazing shirt yesterday from Thomas Pink. It was so incredibley delicious that I had to splurge and pay the full price, which, if you've ever shopped there, you know is quite a lot.

So I decided to wear this yummy shirt to Bob's (SC's boss) party last night. All was going well until one of SC's coworkers, J, accidently splashed red wine all over my brand new spanking shirt. I resisted the urge to have a complete meltdown and go totally ape shit. J was rather apologetic and offered to buy me a new shirt. I was like "No, you really don't want to do that... trust me..."

I figured it would be in the best interest of all involved if we tried to get the wine out of my shirt, as quickly as possible. Club soda just wasn't doing the trick so J thought up the brilliant idea of throwing the shirt in the washing machine down in the basement. Bob set me up with some stain remover, got the washer started and gave me a t-shirt to wear. I was so distracted by the whole affair that I really didn't get to meet many people at the party.

In the end it all turned out fine. The stains magically came out and nobody got hurt.

Bully

SC got me a copy of Rockstar's new game Bully for the PS2. It is my new all-time favorite... even more so that GTA: San Andreas. Two nights in a row I was up until 1 AM playing. Damn, it is addictive.

And for all those haters out there that think that Bully should be taken off the shelves - maybe, just maybe, parents should monitor what their kids are playing and provide a little more guidance around the media their children are consuming.

Hot Pepper

We woke up this morning to jack hammering and road paving outside. They have been doing many improvements to our street lately, including new traffic lights, street lamps, sidewalks and now road pavement. It's nice to know that we are no longer the bastard side of Boylston Street.

I have to go to Detroit Monday through Wednesday for work. I am becoming quite the jetsetter. SC says that all my travelling stresses her out. At least she is not the one having to travel.

Last night we went to Bar Lola for dinner and I accidently bit into a cayenne pepper. It was a rather unpleasant situation to say the least. My tongue and gums were actually in pain and my eyes were watering like crazy. I think I handled the situation well and remained calm.

Note to self: do not bite into a cayenne pepper unless you are feeling rather sadomasochistic. ¡Olé!

It's Getting Cold Out There

I had to wait forever for the bus this evening on my way home. It was rather aggravating, especially since it has gotten much colder today. Yuck. I think this is the point when we New Englanders typically ask ourselves "Now why do we live here again???"

I have to go to NYC from Monday through Tuesday for work. I am worried that I will be miserable all Monday from waking up early to catch the 7:30 AM flight. I hope I will be okay.

New Shiny Silver Toy

My ladyfriend got me a new toy for our two year anniversary (of our very first date) - a sleek new silver iPod Nano. So so soooooo cute. I've been busy putting songs on it. I've been digging up all these great CDs that I haven't listened to in forever and had forgotten all about, like Travis, Coldplay, Tegan & Sara and Tori Amos. Love it, love it, love it. Now I can listen to all this great music i own.

Media and Food Consumption

This past weekend was a good time for media consumption. SC and I checked out The Science of Sleep at the Coolidge. I thought it was a swell flick and it is particularly enjoyable to watch/hear Gael Garcia Bernal speak in English.

Michigan beat Minnesota. Go blue!

I finished reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I really like Jonathan Safran Foer's writing style and I'm looking forward to reading Everything is Illuminated next.

Last night we also went out for an early celebration for my brother's birthday. We went to Rendezvous, a new restaurant in Central Square. The food was fantastic, the mojitos were tasty, and the service was great. My nephew was even given occasional score updates on a sticky note for the Patriots - Bengals game from the staff members. He totally has the connections.
