SF

SF was great. I love, love, love it and want to go back for a vacation with SC. There are so many cool little neighborhoods full of interesting restaurants, shops, and people. I especially liked Castro and the Mission. Check out my photos from San Francisco.

San Francisco

I got to see Mike, Stuart and Mahima - YAY! We ate delicious food, had tasty drinks. I even had halo halo (a Filpino desert) at this ice cream shop called Mitchell's.

Who knew that business travel could be so fun?

Well, I will tell you that the fun ended on Friday during my trip home to Boston. To make a long story short, my connecting flight from Washington-Dulles to Boston got cancelled (after we had sat on the tarmac in the airplane). I had to stay overnight (more like only 4 hours) in a hotel in DC without my bags. The next morning, we tried to check-in to our new flight to Boston and were informed that we had no seats on flight (even though we were told twice the night before that we were confirmed on the flight). We debated taking the Accela train home. Finally we decided to take our chances and try to get on a flight (on standby) to Manchester, NH. We got on the plane (thank god), flew the one hour to Manchester, rented a car, drove down to Boston Logan Airport, returned the car, and found our bags at the baggage claim area.

I really didn't think I was gonna make it home until Monday. That would have totally sucked.

Remind me to never take a connecting flight again.

Home Sweet Home

I am finally back from my business trip to SF. It was good time while I was there, but the trip home was hell. I am too tired to tell the story now, but I will, later.

I am just glad to be home.

Hightstown High School Class of 1996

My ten year high-school reunion was certainly interesting. There were a few people who came up to me to say hello, but I totally didn't recognize them -- good thing for nametags. It was nice to hang out with Emeri (who dressed like she was going clubbing in South Beach) and Sam and Liz and to see a lot of old classmates who I hadn't seen since graduation day. Most folks (mostly the girls) still looked the same. A bunch of the guys gained a lot of weight or became bald.

It was just like high school again. One girl was totally wasted, fell on the dance floor twice, and needed help standing. Some other guys brought their own alcohol and were drinking it outside in the parking lot. Pretty amusing.

Can't wait for the twentieth reunion...

Swimming Date in the Suburbs

JL and DD invited us yesterday for a swimfest/bbq in the suburbs. JL's parents were away for the weekend so he invited us out to Canton for some outfoor fun. Of course by the time we were all sitting out by the pool the clouds came out and the water seemed too cold (I love it when 78 degree water seems freezing). So, no swimming took place that afternoon.

However, we did eat the most delicious gargonzola burgers (JL is a good cook) and drink tasty sangria. We also observed all kinds of wildlife, like rabbits, blue jays, Japanese beetles, green flies and dragonflies. It's amazing what you'll see once you leave the city.

Ahhh... funtimes in the burbs.

Let's Get This Party Started

Let the birthday celebrations continue! On Sunday I turn the big 2-8 so of course I have a weekend of festivities planned. Yesterday, we kicked it off at the Enormous Room with drinks with work-related friends (current and former co-workers). It was definitely a good time - a great mix of people, and delicious drinks and food for all.

So what else is on tap for the weekend of birthday fun?

Hurrah!

Confessions on a Dance Floor

Madonna was awesome, awesome, awesome! SC and I ran into MK, LL and a bunch of their friends before the Madonna show on Thursday. It was funny seeing them and MK seemed upset being "dragged" to the show. Ha.

It was fantastic - a great big dance party at the Garden. Some highlights: Madonna coming out of a giant disco ball wearing a leather riding suit; Madonna singing "Like a Virgin" while on this leather carousel ride; Madonna wearing a crown of thorns strapped to a crucifix made of shiny disco ball mirror material; rollerskating dancers rolling around and doing tricks; Madonna doing dancey versions of some of her oldies like "Erotic" and "La Isla Bonita."

Madonna defintiely is the woman.

Tired Feet

Dinner and drinks last night was a perfect way to unwind from a stressful week at work. JL and DD invited us over for dinner at their place - tasty little pizzas and salad. I must say, JL is a pretty good cook.

I think SC and I must have walked over six miles or so today. We strolled past the huge International Lion's Club Parade, over to the Boston Public Library to drop off a book. Then from there we had breakfast in the South End at Metropolis.

After breakfast we heading to Downtown Crossing for some shopping at our new favorite place, Thomas Pink. Then it was a walk through the Commons, Public Gardens, and Comm Ave Mall, back to our home.

We took a fifteen minute break before heading back out to the MFA to check out the latest special exhibit, "Americans in Paris." After the exhibit, we rewarded ourselves with sashimi at Umi, and then sour watermelon slurpees from Seven Eleven. Yum...

And now, we are back home, with some pretty tired feet.

I guess it's video game time!
